About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Support Worker to join our supported accommodation service in London.
You will provide practical, emotional and person-centred support to vulnerable adults, helping residents develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to achieve their personal goals.
Our residents may have a range of support needs, including experience of homelessness, mental health difficulties, learning disabilities, social vulnerability or other challenges affecting independent living. You will work alongside residents to help them maintain their wellbeing, manage day-to-day responsibilities and work towards greater independence.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in health and social care, supported housing or supported accommodation who is passionate about helping people make positive changes in their lives.
About the People We Support
Our service supports vulnerable adults living in supported accommodation who may require assistance to maintain their tenancy, develop independent living skills and improve their overall wellbeing.
Residents may have different levels and types of support needs. Some may be working towards employment, independent housing or improved stability, while others may require ongoing support with daily living, mental health, social inclusion or accessing services.
The successful candidate will understand that every resident is an individual and will use a person-centred approach to provide support based on their circumstances, strengths and goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred practical and emotional support to residents.
- Support daily living tasks, appointments, budgeting and household activities.
- Promote independence, personal development and achievement of individual goals.
- Encourage engagement with education, training, employment, health and community services.
- Support residents towards greater independence and move-on accommodation.
- Promote residents' dignity, wellbeing, safety and equality.
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns and follow risk management procedures.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies and challenging situations.
- Maintain accurate support records and work effectively with external professionals.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Experience in support work, health and social care, or supporting vulnerable adults.
- Strong communication, active listening and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient, reliable, resilient and non-judgemental approach.
- Ability to motivate residents and promote independence.
- Good organisation, time management, record-keeping and attention to detail.
- Understanding of safeguarding, risk management and professional boundaries.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills and ability to maintain confidential records.
- Right to work in the UK, National Insurance Number and valid DBS or willingness to obtain one.
- Relevant safeguarding training; Health & Social Care qualifications or supported housing experience are desirable.
