Medical Secretary – Birmingham (B37)
The Medical People Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established GP practice in Birmingham (B37) for an experienced Medical Secretary to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Medical Secretary with strong administrative and organisational skills to join a modern GP practice serving approximately 13,500 patients.
The practice uses SystmOne and works as part of a successful PCN network.
Location: Birmingham, B37
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, flexible working
Salary: Depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and typing clinical correspondence, reports, referrals and other documentation
- Managing patient and stakeholder enquiries relating to appointments, referrals and treatment pathways
- Creating and maintaining templates, letters and administrative documents
- Updating patient and clinical records accurately and securely
- Processing referrals and clinical correspondence
- Supporting clinicians and the wider practice team with day-to-day medical administration
- Ensuring confidentiality, information governance and data security requirements are maintained
- Managing multiple administrative priorities accurately and efficiently
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working in a medical secretary or medical administration role
- Excellent audio and touch-typing skills with a high level of accuracy
- Good knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience using SystmOne or another clinical system
- Experience with read-coding and workflowing clinical documentation
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A good understanding of confidentiality and information governance
- The ability to work accurately under pressure and manage competing priorities
