Medical Receptionist

We're recruiting on behalf of a friendly and welcoming GP Practice in South Shields and the surrounding areas, seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join their busy team on a full-time, ongoing temporary basis. There is also the potential for a permanent position following a successful trial period.
This is a busy, call centre-style reception role, so you'll need to be confident handling a high volume of patient calls while delivering exceptional customer service.

Managing a high volume of incoming patient calls professionally and efficiently

Greeting patients and visitors with a warm and friendly approach

Booking, amending and managing GP appointments

Responding to patient enquiries by phone and email

Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records

Processing patient registrations and relevant documentation

Supporting the practice with general administrative duties, including scanning, filing and data entry

Working closely with clinicians and the wider practice team to ensure the smooth running of the surgery

Previous experience working within an NHS GP Surgery

Essential: Working knowledge of EMIS

Experience in a busy reception or high-volume call handling environment

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask

Good IT skills and experience using electronic patient record systems

Competitive hourly rate of £14.24 - £14.68

Full-time hours (37.5 hours per week)
