Parts Handler - HGV Workshop
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:45am - 5:45pm
The OpportunityOur client, a well-established commercial vehicle business in Stoke-on-Trent, is seeking an experienced Parts Handler to join their busy HGV workshop team.
This is a key position within the operation, ensuring technicians have the correct parts available to complete repairs and maintenance efficiently, minimising vehicle downtime and keeping customers' fleets on the road.
Working across a variety of HGV makes and models, the successful candidate will have strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and a good understanding of truck components and parts systems.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, check and store incoming HGV parts and components.
Accurately identify parts for a range of HGV manufacturers and vehicle models.
Order parts from suppliers and monitor deliveries to ensure timely availability.
Liaise closely with technicians and the Workshop Manager regarding workshop requirements.
Issue parts to technicians and maintain accurate records of stock movements.
Carry out regular stock checks and maintain accurate inventory records.
Process returns for incorrect, damaged or surplus parts.
Source parts quickly and effectively to minimise workshop delays and vehicle downtime.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers.
Negotiate pricing and delivery times where appropriate.
Ensure warranty claims and core returns are processed correctly.
Keep the parts department clean, organised and compliant with health and safety standards.
Assist with workshop administration and maintain accurate documentation.
Follow all company health and safety procedures at all times.
The Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will have:
Previous experience within an HGV, commercial vehicle, automotive or parts environment.
Good knowledge of HGV components and vehicle systems.
Experience identifying and sourcing parts across multiple manufacturers.
Strong IT and computer skills.
Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workshop environment.
