*JOB DESCRIPTION:*
A Registered Nurse may supervise duties performed by LPNs and CNAs in a team care setting under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, and Director of Nursing.
*RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Provide direct care and treatment to long-term and rehabilitation resident
* Provide assessment and documentation of residents under their care
* Initiates and administers Intravenous treatments
* Communicates with the Nursing team and medical team as appropriate
* Reviews and evaluates the resident care plan
* Transcribes Physician orders
* May assist in orientating new staff
* Maintains competency in all site-specific tasks required by the facility
* Work closely with RN Supervisor to ensure the best possible functions of the assigned unit
* Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
* Prepares and administers, and records prescribed medications
* Records patients’ medical information and vital signs
* Assesses the patient's ability to do routine daily tasks
* Recognizes and manages geriatric syndromes common to older adults, including cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, hematological, musculoskeletal, endocrine, neurological, psychiatric/psychosocial, integumentary, sensory, and pain problems
* Prepares equipment and aids the physician during the examination and treatment of the patient
* Communicate with family members regarding patient
* Records all care information concisely, accurately, and entirely, promptly, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms
* Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on the assignment setting
*REQUIREMENTS:*
* Degree from an accredited school of nursing
* Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York requires
* Education or experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing is preferred
* Must be flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable
* Strong customer service skills and compassion
