JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct responsibility for Property Accounting and collaboration with department heads to accomplish accuracy and financial goals.
Responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly process for all accounting functions including but not limited to Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Income Audit, and Cash Management.
Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions related to hotel operations during the calendar month, including proper accruals for un-invoiced expenses such as utilities, maintenance, and inventory purchases.
Ensures daily cash and credit card deposits are appropriately recorded and reconciled. Follows up on variances and adjusts operating procedures to maintain efficient and effective and deposits processes and controls.
Prepare and review timely financial statements for the executive team and ownership, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Leads the monthly forecast process by collaborating with the General Manager and department heads to develop and manage monthly forecasts and budgets. Monitor variances and make recommendations for corrective actions.
Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets.
Continuously assess and improve financial processes.
Monitor and develop direct reports, including, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, and evaluations.
Lead the annual budget process and maintain controls on spending to ensure budgetary limits are met.
Regularly monitors and audits systems to ensure accuracy of data (e.g., outlet menu prices) and support the achievement of revenue goals.
Work with 3rd party vendors on-site to ensure accurate reporting and provide support to ensure timelines are met.
Ensures compliance with all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
Actively serve as a key member of the executive leadership team.
Act as a storyteller for our Brand, our hotel, and it's decor
Work with colleagues to deliver inspirational service
Any other job duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in Accounting/Finance or Business Education
5+ years of accounting experience preferred, preferably in a hotel environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Three to five years in an accounting leadership role with a preference for hospitality experience.
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Strong leadership skills and ability to constructively influence peers.
Detail-oriented; strives for excellence in all assignments.
Excellent time management skills
Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect the accounting department
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process
Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
Must be able to apply mathematical operations to tasks
Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, with most proficiency in Excel
Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to maintain compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations
Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data
