Part-time radiology technician position in busy orthopedic practice. The position requires flexibility and the ability to manage at a fast pace; be part of a team environment; and cross-training of general clinical duties to sometimes assist clinical support staff in patient practice management. Requirements for travel to off site locations.
Responsibilities
Take radiologic films providing quality images to physicians to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems
Prepare and position patients for imaging and select exposure factors accurately.
Monitor protocols and recommend updates or refinements as warranted.
Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
Prevent patients from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.
Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and any other areas in department.
Position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
Assist in the transfer of patients from the exam room to radiology department
Some assistance to clinical support staff in patient care and general practice patient care
Ensure radiographic exams and images are obtained as needed for appointments
Ability to be flexible in schedule and providing staffing to outreach locations
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Requires knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of radiologic equipment as acquired through completion of an approved curriculum of Radiologic Technology. Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology or ARRT and must maintain current Wisconsin state license as a Registered Radiographer. Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.
