Fox Morris Group are delighted to be supporting Lancashire County Council in recruiting experienced Highways Operatives / Skilled Roadworkers to support the delivery of the 2026/27 Highway Improvement Capital Programme.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of major highways projects, including road resurfacing, regeneration schemes, drainage improvements and public transport infrastructure.
Your Role
Working as part of the Countywide Projects Team, you will carry out a wide range of highway maintenance and civil engineering activities on live highway environments, ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out full footway and carriageway reconstruction works.

Install kerbs, edgings, tactile paving, drainage pipes, gullies and chambers.

Construct ducting and chambers.

Lay bituminous materials and complete reinstatement works.

Operate small plant including rollers, compactors, saws and breakers.

Set out works accurately to line and level with minimal supervision.

Lead a small gang or act as the lead operative on site when required.

Maintain high standards of health & safety and workmanship at all times.
Essential Requirements
To be considered, candidates must have:

Proven experience working on live highways or civil engineering projects.

Experience carrying out footway and carriageway reconstruction.

Experience laying drainage pipes, gullies and associated drainage systems.

Ability to set out and work to line and level without close supervision.

Good knowledge of Lancashire Specifications / Highway Standards.

Valid NRSWA Street Works Operative Accreditation.

Valid CSCS Card (minimum requirement).

Experience leading a small gang or supervising works on site
