Accounts & Payroll Administrator
Location: South Somerset (commutable from Yeovil, Chard, Ilminster)
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time/Part Time (pro rata annual salary), Permanent, Onsite
The Opportunity
An established and growing accountancy practice in South Somerset is seeking an experienced Accounts & Payroll Administrator to join their busy team. Working across a diverse portfolio of clients, you will be responsible for delivering accurate payroll services alongside supporting a range of bookkeeping and accounting activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous payroll and accounts experience who enjoys working in a client-focused environment and managing multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll
Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for multiple clients across a range of sectors
Ensuring payrolls are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
Managing payroll starters and leavers
Processing statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP
Administering pension auto-enrolment and pension scheme submissions
Calculating holiday pay, overtime, bonuses and other payroll adjustments
Producing and issuing payslips and payroll reports
Responding to client payroll queries and providing ongoing support
Maintaining employee payroll records in line with current legislationAccounts & Bookkeeping
Maintaining bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices and bank transactions
Performing bank reconciliations
Assisting with VAT return preparation and submission
Supporting the preparation of management accounts
Reconciling balance sheet accounts
Assisting with year-end accounts preparation
Liaising with clients to obtain financial information and documentation
Ensuring client records are maintained accurately and efficientlyPerson Specification
Essential
Previous experience within a payroll and accounting/bookkeeping position (5 years+)
Knowledge of payroll legislation and pension auto-enrolment
Strong bookkeeping skills including reconciliations and VAT returns
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skillsDesirable
Experience working within an accountancy practice environment
Knowledge of payroll software such as BrightPay, Sage Payroll or Xero Payroll
Experience using bookkeeping software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage
AAT qualification or working towards a finance qualificationWhat's on Offer
