Contract Type: Temporary
Annual Salary: £13.45 per hour
Working Pattern: Full Time
What You'll Do:
As an Animal Welfare Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the well-being of our animals. Your responsibilities will include:
Stable and Kennel Care:
Cleaning stables and kennels, preparing bedding, and ensuring a comfortable environment for our horses and dogs.
Maintaining associated equipment, yards, and muck heaps to high cleanliness standards.Health Monitoring:
Observing and reporting any signs of illness or distress in animals.
Assisting with administering medication and monitoring vital signs when necessary.
Safety First:
Gritting and maintaining safe, ice-free yards to prevent slips and injuries for both animals and staff.
Ensuring all areas are secure and alarms are properly activated or deactivated.Supporting the Team:
Guiding visitors and supervising volunteers, ensuring a positive and safe experience for all.
Assisting with the acceptance and unloading of feed and bedding deliveries, while managing stock rotation.
What We're Looking For:
To thrive in this role, you should possess:
Experience with Animals: A deep understanding of horses and dogs, including their care, grooming, feeding, and behaviour.
Physical Fitness: Capability to handle large animals and undertake extensive exercise routines.
Attention to Detail: Ability to recognise subtle changes in animal behaviour and health.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with colleagues, veterinary personnel, and visitors.
Flexibility: Willingness to work shifts, including afternoons and nights, as required.Qualifications:
A qualification in animal welfare (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) is desirable.
A clean full driving licence; LGV/HGV licence is a plus.Why Join Us?
