Overview
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards. This role involves supervising a team of warehouse operatives, coordinating workflow, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise a team of warehouse operatives, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.

Coordinate daily tasks, including goods-in, goods-out, picking, packing, replenishment, and stock movements.

Monitor productivity and ensure targets, KPIs, and service levels are consistently met.

Ensure compliance with all health & safety procedures, including correct use of PPE and safe working practices.

Train and develop team members, including onboarding new staff and upskilling existing colleagues.

Maintain accurate inventory records, investigate discrepancies, and support regular stock counts.

Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet trucks) where required and ensure equipment is used safely.

Communicate effectively with other departments such as transport, planning, and customer service.

Support continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

Handle issues proactively, including staffing challenges, workflow bottlenecks, and operational problems.
Skills & Experience

Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, ideally in a supervisory or team leader role.

Strong understanding of warehouse processes, stock control, and operational workflows.

Excellent communication and people‑management skills.

Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively.

Good IT skills, including experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).

A proactive, hands‑on approach with strong problem‑solving ability.

Forklift licence (desirable but not always essential).
