JOB DESCRIPTION
About the role
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Garden Services Apprentice to join our team covering Stockport and the surrounding areas. This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8am and 4pm.
As a Garden Services Apprentice, you will be supported by experienced Guinness colleagues while developing your skills in grounds maintenance and estate services. You will complete your apprenticeship milestones through the Apprenticeship Academy and will be given dedicated study time to support your learning and progress, working towards a Level 2 Horticulture Apprenticeship qualification over a two year period.
The salary is dependent on your age, and is above Government recommendations for National Minimum Wage and Living Wage -
Under 18: £17,094 per annum
18-20: £23,184 per annum
21 & Over: £25,895 per annum
The successful candidate will assist in the provision of a high-quality estate services including gardening, grounds maintenance and professional cleaning.
Grounds maintenance tasks:
Lawn mowing/Lawn care
Border management
Hedge cutting
Planting and Pruning
Strimming
Litter picking
Project works, such as redesigning areas of the scheme for improvements
Bin store management and bulk waste removal when necessary
Other duties:
Cleaning internal communal areas
Floor cleaning, such as mopping duties
You will need to demonstrate good communication skills and develop positive working relationships with residents, colleagues, and contractors. You will operate, store, and maintain equipment to comply with Health and Safety procedures including COSHH, PPE and prompt reporting of incidents on site.
The successful candidate will be:
Able to carry out physical tasks within Health and Safety guidelines
Able to work effectively within a team
Ability to use all equipment safely and effectively
Able to deliver great customer service
An excellent communicator with written and verbal skills
Desirable Qualifications
Level 2 Qualifications in Maths and English or the ability to complete these with support by the end of the apprenticeship.
