Site Operative / Arborist Groundworker
Location: Polegate (BN) or Maidstone (ME)
Salary: £121 - £130 per day (depending on experience)
Overtime Rates:
1.5x hourly rate for evening and Saturday shifts
2x hourly rate for Sunday shifts
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm (9.5-hour working day)
Additional Requirements:
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required to meet operational demands.
About the Role
Our Client is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Site Operative / Arborist Groundworker to join their team. The successful candidate will perform a variety of on-site tasks, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
This role requires an individual who can prioritise workloads, work independently, take ownership of their tools and equipment, and maintain strong health and safety practices at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Task Management
Complete multiple site tasks efficiently and within agreed timescales.
Prioritise workloads according to operational requirements and Team Leader instructions.
Ensure all work meets company quality and safety standards.
Health, Safety & Risk Management
Assist with daily risk assessments, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
Ensure all tasks are completed in compliance with company health and safety procedures.
Conduct daily PPE and equipment checks.
Identify and report near misses using Procore and intervene appropriately to prevent unsafe practices.
Attend safety forums and toolbox talks to remain up to date with best practices.
Comply with requirements relating to monitoring equipment, including Reactec HAVS monitoring systems.
Ensure work areas are appropriately signed, barriered, and safe for colleagues, customers, and members of the public.
Tooling & Equipment Maintenance
Take responsibility for assigned tools and machinery.
Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, and compliance checks, recording information on Procore when required.
Perform basic troubleshooting and resolve minor equipment issues.
Report significant defects or maintenance concerns promptly to the appropriate person.
Problem Solving
Resolve on-site issues using practical solutions and guidance from the Team Leader.
Escalate any concerns or issues that require additional support.
Site Documentation & Reporting
Complete and maintain accurate site records and documentation through Procore.
Ensure all paperwork is completed correctly and submitted within required timescales.
Undertake additional reporting duties as delegated by the Team Leader.
Team Support & Mentoring
Support new and less experienced operatives by providing guidance and assistance.
Promote safe working practices and lead by example on-site.
Share knowledge and learning gained through training and safety forums.
General Site Duties
Contribute to the efficient day-to-day running of site operations.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
Ensure work is completed to agreed quality standards and deadlines.
Customer & Community Awareness
Act professionally and courteously when interacting with customers and members of the public.
Understand the impact of works on local communities and minimise disruption where possible.
Direct customer queries or complaints to the Team Leader or Head Office as appropriate.

NPTC CS30 - Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting
NPTC CS31 - Small Tree Felling
CSCS Card
Wood Chipper Certificate
Strimmer Certificate
Desirable Qualifications
NPTC CS32 - Medium Tree Felling
IPAF / MEWP Certification
Skills & Experience
Strong commitment to health and safety.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Practical problem-solving skills.
Good organisational and time management abilities.
Experience using site management and reporting systems such as Procore is advantageous.
Reliable, proactive, and professional attitude.
