Assistant Management Accountant | £30,000 - £33,000 |Bolton + Hybrid & Flexible Working Hours (2 Days in Office, 3 Days from Home)| Study Support
Axon Moore are pleased to be working on behalf of a well-established business based in Bolton who are looking to add an Assistant Management Accountant to their team. This is a newly created position which will provide additional support due to growth within the business and this role is to further strengthen the finance function in line with its growth plans.
This is a varied, hands-on role offering you a broad exposure across multiple areas of the finance function, with the opportunity to take ownership of tasks and develop your accounting skills further. You will then work closely with the Management Accountant and Finance Manager to deliver timely and accurate financial information to stakeholders across the business.
The role would be best suited to experience Assistant Accountants or Accounts Assistants looking for the next step in their career with study support on offer.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Assisting with the production of monthly management accounts
Assisting with accruals and prepayments, ensuring costs are recognised in the correct period
Performing balance sheet and supplier reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies
Maintaining and updating the fixed asset register
Supporting with month-end close, including preparing and posting journal entries
Processing foreign currency and goods import invoices
Processing and reconciling bank accounts and company credit card transactions
Taking ownership of allocated finance reports, ensuring they are accurate and delivered on time
Contributing to the preparation of VAT returns and developing your understanding of VAT input and output rules relevant to the business
Getting involved with year-end processes and the preparation on statutory accounts
Working in line with internal controls, polices and accounting standards
Supporting the Finance Manager and Management Accountant with ad-hoc tasks
Required Skills and Experience:
Previous experience working in an Assistant Accountant/ Accounts Assistant role
Advanced excel skills and strong analytical skills
Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and reconciliations
Previous experience using accounting systems
High level accuracy and attention to detail
Proactive mindset, with confidence to ask questions, identify opportunities and suggest improvements
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Desire to study towards ACCA/CIMA
Role would suit someone with AAT qualification or accounting degree
