Industrious Recruitment are recruiting for a Warehouse Supervisor on behalf of a well-established engineering company based in the Northampton area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced warehouse professional with strong leadership skills to join a busy and fast-paced engineering environment.
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, control, and dispatch of raw materials, components, and finished goods. Within a precision engineering environment, this role is critical to maintaining accurate stock control, production continuity, and customer delivery performance.
The position also has responsibility for coordinating company transport activities, including organising drivers, and managing deliveries and collections to customers, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of materials. A hands-on approach is essential to support daily warehouse activities.

Monday to Thursday 6.30am - 4.45pm
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations Management
• Supervise daily warehouse activities including goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch
• Support operational activities directly when required, including operating counterbalance forklift trucks
• Ensure efficient material flow between warehouse and production areas
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment
• Optimise warehouse layout and processes to improve productivity and space utilisation.
Inventory Control & Accuracy
• Maintain accurate stock records within the ERP system
• Oversee cycle counting and full stock take processes
• Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies promptly
• Monitor slow-moving, obsolete, or excess stock and escalate risks
Goods Inwards & Materials Management
• Manage the receipt and inspection of incoming goods against purchase orders
• Ensure correct labelling, documentation, and traceability of materials
• Coordinate with purchasing and quality departments on supplier issues
• Enforce quarantine procedures for non-conforming materials
Production Support
• Ensure timely and accurate kitting of materials for production orders
• Work closely with production planning to prioritise material availability
• Support Work in Progress tracking and movement
• Minimise downtime caused by material shortages or errors
Dispatch, Logistics & Transport Coordination
• Oversee accurate picking, packing, and dispatch of customer orders
• Plan and organise company drivers’ daily schedules
• Coordinate deliveries and collections to subcontractors
• Coordinate with transport providers and manage outbound logistics schedules
• Maintain on-time delivery performance targets
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, supervise, and develop warehouse staff
• Allocate workloads and manage daily priorities
• Conduct training on systems, processes, and health & safety
• Monitor performance and enforce standards and discipline where required
Health, Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and company policies
• Maintain safe working practices
• Ensure adherence to quality standards
Continuous Improvement & Systems
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Improve processes around stock control, picking accuracy, and layout efficiency
• Ensure disciplined and consistent use of ERP systems and barcode scanning
• Support ERP implementation or optimisation projects
Skills & Experience
• Proven experience in a warehouse supervisory role
• Valid counterbalance FLT license
• Strong knowledge of inventory control, stock management, and warehousing best practices
• Experience using ERP systems
• Understanding of traceability and quality requirements in engineering environments
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Good organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills
