About the Role
Connex Education are currently recruiting a passionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant (Behaviour & Inclusion) to work across a range of specialist settings in North Somerset. You will be supporting children and young people with a variety of additional needs, helping them access learning, regulate behaviour and build confidence in a safe and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities
Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
Assist with behaviour regulation and emotional support strategies
Help deliver tailored learning activities under teacher guidance
Promote positive behaviour and reinforce school routines
Support communication needs using appropriate strategies (visuals, prompts, etc.)
Build trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress
Contribute to a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
How Children May Present (Behaviour & Inclusion Needs)
You may be supporting children and young people who present with a wide range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), Sensory Processing Delay (SPD) and communication difficulties.
Pupils may:
Experience challenges with emotional regulation, including frustration, anxiety, or shutdown/meltdown responses
Display behaviour that can be challenging or communicate unmet needs
Require consistent routines and clear, structured expectations
Struggle with transitions or changes to their day
Need support with social interaction and understanding boundaries
Use alternative communication methods such as visuals, PECS, or gestures
Require sensory breaks or time in calm, low-stimulation environments
Your role is not just to manage behaviour, but to understand the underlying need and support positive outcomes through patience, consistency and empathy.

Experience working with children or young people (SEN experience desirable)

Strong communication and teamwork skills
