About the Role
Connex Education is currently recruiting for enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to work across a specialist SEND setting supporting children and young people with a range of complex educational, medical and behavioural needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work in highly supportive environments where the role of the Learning Support Assistant is central to helping pupils access a personalised curriculum and achieve their individual outcomes outlined in their EHCPs.
We are looking for individuals who are nurturing, energetic, empathetic and confident in applying a variety of behaviour support strategies to help pupils engage positively in learning and daily school life.
We offer flexible supply opportunities, short-term and longer-term placements depending on your availability and preference.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with complex learning, medical, and behavioural needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
Assist teaching staff in delivering tailored and differentiated learning activities
Help implement individual education plans and EHCP targets
Use appropriate behaviour management strategies to support engagement and wellbeing
Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
Encourage independence, communication, and social development
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff
Provide consistent emotional and pastoral support to pupils throughout the school day
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH, or complex needs is highly desirable
A calm, patient and resilient approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to adapt and respond to challenging situations positively
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Connex Education
