Assistant Civil Design Engineer - HV Cable Route
Location: Greater London (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £28,000 - £44,000

Turner Lovell is recruiting an Assistant Civil Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering complex infrastructure projects across the UK.
This opportunity sits within a specialist civils team responsible for the development of underground cable corridors and associated infrastructure, supporting projects from initial route development through to construction delivery.
Key responsibilities:
Supporting the development of HV cable route designs from feasibility through to detailed design stages
Assisting with route optioneering exercises and engineering assessments to identify preferred cable alignments
Producing route drawings, engineering reports and technical documentation using AutoCAD and associated design tools
Supporting the identification of route constraints including existing utilities, highways, third-party assets and environmental considerations
Assisting with cable route walkovers, site inspections and constructability assessments
Working closely with electrical, civils, environmental and land teams to coordinate project deliverables
Supporting design reviews, technical assurance activities and client deliverables
Contributing to construction support activities, including responding to technical queries and reviewing site information
Ideal background:
A degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
Graduate-level candidates or engineers with 1-2 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply
Previous exposure to utilities, infrastructure, telecommunications, rail, highways or civil engineering projects would be beneficial
Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work effectively within collaborative project teams
A proactive attitude towards learning and professional development
An interest in developing a career within the utilities, infrastructure or energy sectors
