Handyman / Yard Maintenance Operative (Temp to Perm)

📍 Location: Chawston, Bedford 💰 Pay: £14.50 per hour 🕒 Hours: Mon–Thurs 08:00–16:30 | Fri 08:00–15:30 📅 Start: ASAP 🔄 Contract: Temp to Perm ➕ Overtime: Optional weekend work available

🏗️ About the Role

We’re recruiting a Handyman / Maintenance Operative to join a busy depot team refurbishing modular buildings and portable cabins. All units must be fully cleaned, repaired, and prepared before being sent back out to customer sites. While the role is mainly hands-on maintenance and refurbishment, there will be times where cleaning and preparation work is required—especially during busy periods and initial training. This is a long-term opportunity with full on-the-job training provided. New starters will initially support with more general duties (including cleaning and basic refurbishment tasks) before progressing into more skilled cabin fitting and maintenance work over time.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

Cleaning, refurbishing, and preparing modular buildings and site cabins for dispatch General repairs including basic carpentry, painting, and maintenance work Supporting cabin refurbishment and internal fit-out tasks Keeping the yard clean, organised, and safe Assisting with general labouring duties as required Working as part of a team to meet daily production targets 👷 What We’re Looking For

Practical, hands-on individual with DIY or maintenance experience Background in handyman work, labouring, construction, or similar is ideal Reliable, hard-working, and willing to learn new skills Able to work independently and as part of a team Good awareness of health & safety practices Positive attitude and willingness to start with basic duties and progress👉 No CSCS card required – company will fund this if needed
