An established and growing business based in Central Chelmsford is looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join the finance team on a 12‑month fixed term contract.
This is a broad, hands‑on role offering exposure across the full finance function, working closely with the Head of Finance and supporting both financial reporting and day‑to‑day operations. It would suit someone looking to build on their experience in a practical, commercially focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, journals and analysis
Manage sales ledger processes including invoicing, receipts and reconciliations
Prepare weekly bank reconciliations and support cashflow reporting
Maintain accurate accounting records and support intercompany reconciliations
Assist with purchase ledger and subcontractor payments
Support VAT returns, CIS submissions and audit requirements
Contribute to balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processesAbout You
Previous experience in a finance or accounts role
Studying towards AAT or similar (desirable)
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Confident using Excel and finance systems
Able to work to deadlines and manage multiple priorities
