1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEMH Provision
Baldock
3 days per week | September 2026 – February 2027 initially
Class Education are working exclusivly with a Baldock based Secondary School who are seeking a caring, resilient and engaging 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 7 student joining them in September 2026.
This is a unique opportunity to make a genuine difference to the life of a young person who has experienced barriers to education and would benefit from a patient, nurturing adult who can build trust over time.
We are looking for someone who:
-
Has experience supporting children with SEMH needs, trauma or anxiety
-
Can build positive relationships patiently and without pressure
-
Is calm, emotionally resilient and flexible
-
May have a sporty background or enjoy engaging young people through football, games or practical activities
-
Understands that relationship-building may come before academic engagement
-
Can work collaboratively with school staff and families
The role is funded for 3 days per week from September 2026 until February 2027 initially. Attendance may be gradual, and there may be times when the student is unable to attend school; during these periods the successful TA would be deployed to support elsewhere within the school.
The school prides themselves on their smaller class sizes, specialist staff and relational approach to supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. They believe in meeting students where they are and helping them rediscover confidence in education.
This role would suit someone compassionate, proactive and genuinely committed to helping vulnerable young people succeed.
