We are seeking a talented and motivated Architectural Assistant to join an established practice based in Bedford. As an Architectural Assistant, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a range of projects while developing your skills within a collaborative, design-led environment.
The Role
As part of their successful residential team, you will support the delivery of projects from initial concept through to planning determination. You’ll gain exposure to a wide variety of schemes, ranging from bespoke developments for private clients to large-scale masterplanning for national housebuilders.
Key Responsibilities

Contribute to a variety of residential projects across the UK, from small-scale developments to major masterplans

Assist in the design and preparation of planning drawings and supporting documentation

Produce accurate planning drawings, including house types and multi-unit layouts, up to planning application stage

Use software such as AutoCAD and Adobe Photoshop to develop high-quality plans and visuals

Communicate design ideas through hand sketches and visual presentations

Support the preparation of Design and Access Statements and other planning documentation

Collaborate closely with colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure high standards of design and delivery

Promote a positive and creative working environment through strong communication and teamwork

About You

Minimum of 2 years’ experience within the residential sector

Degree qualified in Architecture, Urban Design, or a related field (preferred)

Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office

Experience with SketchUp and rendering software (e.g. V-Ray) is advantageous, though training can be provided

Strong design sensibility with good hand-drawing skills

A proactive, enthusiastic team player who can also work independently when required

Excellent communication skills with a high standard of written and spoken English
