Location: Plymouth, PL1
Work Style: Hybrid - remote, office and field‑based
Hours: 37 hours per week, Mon - Fri
Pay: £13.26 per hour
Start date: 19th May 2026
Assignment: Temporary, 6 months
Interview date: 5th May (onsite)
About the Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and people‑focused candidate to join our client’s School Transport Team in a varied role supporting recruitment and essential transport services for students across Plymouth. You’ll help bring new Passenger Assistants into the workforce, support key administrative processes, and play an important part in ensuring children travel to school safely every day.
What You Need
Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
Confident using Microsoft Office
Can‑do attitude and ability to work independently
Basic DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Key Responsibilities
Manage recruitment for Agency and PCC Passenger Assistants: scheduling interviews, preparing paperwork, uploading documents, and supporting candidates from application to start date
Liaise with applicants and assist with onboarding
Travel across Plymouth to distribute recruitment materials
Provide HR admin support for Passenger Assistants
Process free school meal applications and eligibility checks
Complete ID checks, update DBS/driver records, and issue ID badges
Maintain accurate admin records and databases
Communicate route changes to operators and Passenger Assistants
Handle invoices, payments, timesheets, and financial queries
Support with general admin: calls, emails, letters, filing, and arranging cover
Act as a point of contact for parents, schools, and operators
Support Transport Officers and undertake other duties as required
Essential Skills & Experience
GCSEs A*–C / 9–4 in English & Maths
Strong admin background and ability to prioritise workload
Experience providing customer support across phone, email, online and face‑to‑face
Accurate record‑keeping and data handling
Strong communication, customer care, and problem‑solving skills
Good numeracy, literacy, and attention to detail
Team‑working, punctuality, and ownership of tasks
Desirable
NVQ Level 2/3 or customer care training
Understanding of school transport or relevant policies
Experience improving processes, producing management information, or using Capita ONE EMS
