About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming educational setting in Oldham from September.
In this role, you will support students aged 16–19 with Autism, providing both 1:1 and in-class support to help them engage with learning and develop independence within a structured and supportive environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with additional needs, even without formal qualifications.
Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 support to students with Autism

Support students throughout the school day, including routines and transitions

Assist with classroom activities and learning tasks

Help develop students’ social, emotional, and communication skills

Adapt resources and approaches to meet individual learning needs

Work closely with teaching staff and SEN professionals to deliver tailored support

Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
About You

A genuine interest in supporting young people with SEN, particularly Autism

Patient, empathetic, and resilient with a calm and positive approach

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to build trust and rapport with students

Transferable experience (e.g. care work, youth work, support roles) is highly valued

Previous experience in education is beneficial but not essential

A willingness to learn and develop within an SEN setting
