Assistant Civil Engineer

As an Assistant Civil Engineer, you will support the delivery of civil engineering designs across a range of development projects. You will work closely with senior engineers and a multidisciplinary team to produce drainage, highway, and infrastructure designs from concept through to construction.
This role is ideal for a graduate or early-career engineer looking to develop within a collaborative consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
·Assist in the preparation of civil engineering designs, including:
oDrainage strategies and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
oHighway and access design (Section 278 works)
oEarthworks and cut & fill analysis
·Support feasibility studies and early-stage engineering appraisals
·Produce drawings, calculations, and technical reports for planning and approvals
·Assist in developing designs through to technical approval and construction stage
·Liaise with external stakeholders, including local authorities, utilities, and regulators
·Support flood risk assessments and surface water management strategies
·Coordinate with internal teams (architectural, structural, sustainability)
·Ensure compliance with relevant UK standards and regulations
·Support project delivery within agreed deadlines and budgets
Requirements
Essential:
·Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
·Basic understanding of drainage and highway design
·Familiarity with AutoCAD, Site3D/Civil 3D, Causeway Flow or similar software
·Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desirable:
·Experience in a consultancy or design environment
·Knowledge of SuDS, flood risk, or earthworks modelling
·Working towards professional accreditation (e.g. ICE)
