- Development and implementation of creative and sustainable packaging concepts in close cooperation with internal interfaces and external partners at an international level
- Development of internal guidelines for the safe and legally compliant use of recycled materials
- Evaluation and interpretation of compatibility tests between cosmetic formulations and packaging materials (e.g. migration, sorption, permeation) based on laboratory results, empirical values and risk analyses
- Recommendation of compliant packaging materials and ensuring documentation in accordance with EU 1223/2009, REACH 1907/2006 and EU 10/2011
- Analysis and interpretation of results from stress tests, migration simulations and ESCR measurements, including review of supplier documentation and evaluation of test results
- Analysis of contamination profiles, NIAS relevance and traceability
- Training of internal teams on the basics of formulation and packaging compatibility
- Qualifications: Degree in packaging engineering, polymer science, cosmetic chemistry or materials science (M.Sc./Ph.D. advantageous).
- Professional experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in the FMCG environment.
- Technical expertise: In-depth understanding of polymer chemistry for virgin and recycled materials (e.g. (r)PP, (r)HDPE, (r)PET, TPU, COC/COP, ABS/SAN, POM, NBR/SBR) as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements such as REACH, EU 1223/2009 and EU 10/2011.
- Analytical skills: Experience in evaluating migration, extractables/leachables and stress test data.
- Regulatory responsibility: Ability to develop processes/guidelines for legal compliance and support in the preparation of declarations of conformity (DoC).
- Packaging & project expertise: Experience in sustainable packaging development (‘design for recycling') and in managing complex, including international, projects.
- Additional skills: Very good MS Office skills (especially Excel), experience with design thinking/agile methods, high affinity for cosmetics & trends, and business fluent English.
