Role Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Shift Supervisor to join our Operations team in Dudley. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced warehouse professional with laser processing knowledge, to take ownership of shift performance and drive high standards across safety, productivity and service delivery.
As a Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading and managing laser processing and warehouse operations during your shift, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with company policies and procedures.
You will play a key role in delivering operational excellence across safety, quality, service, cost and productivity while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
This shift covers the afternoon shift, working from 2.00pm to 10.00pm, Monday to Friday.
Due to the nature of our products, the warehouse environment can be physically demanding, dirty, and subject to temperature variations (hot in summer and cold in winter). Applicants should be comfortable working in these conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all aspects of laser processing and warehouse functions across the shift to achieve operational targets
Maintain the highest standards of health and safety, discipline and productivity
Ensure full compliance with company policies, procedures and quality standards
Monitor and drive performance improvements across the shift
Supervise and coordinate a team of up to 10 employees
Ensure customer requirements are consistently met through accurate and timely operations
Liaise with internal departments, including sales and other operational teams, to deliver excellent service
Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and 5S practices
Ensure effective shift handovers and preparation for subsequent teams
Monitor training needs and ensure compliance with certification and expiry requirements
Control costs and minimise waste across shift operationsWhat we are looking for
Essential skills and experience
Experience in a warehouse or distribution environment
Proven experience leading or supervising a team, often with limited direct management
Strong understanding of health and safety (EHS) and safe working practices
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement
Good working knowledge of warehouse operations and processes
Ability to safely handle large and heavy steel products
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and email
A stable career historyDesirable
Experience in laser processing preferred but not essential
SAP literacy an advantage but not essential
IOSH certification or equivalent health & safety qualification
