Accounts / Credit Control Assistant

🕒 34 hours per week (Mon–Thurs 9:00am–5:00pm, Fri 9:00am–4:30pm)
The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Accounts / Credit Control Assistant to join a busy and supportive finance team in Halifax. This role would suit someone with strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a keen interest in developing their finance and analytical skills within a collaborative environment.
The Role
You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate record keeping, assisting with reporting, and acting as a point of contact for both internal teams and external clients.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Ledger & Credit Control

Setting up new client accounts

Recording and allocating cash receipts

Reconciling cash receipt books and identifying discrepancies

Issuing client statements and handling related queries
Data & Reporting
-
Preparing monthly client reports
-
Reconciling data across multiple systems
-
Managing and analysing large data sets
-
Investigating discrepancies and producing ad hoc reports
Queries & Stakeholder Support

Responding to internal and external finance queries
-
Supporting teams with invoicing best practice

Ensuring timely resolution and escalation where needed
General Finance Administration

Managing shared accounts inbox

Supporting document management and filing

Assisting with year-end processes and archiving
About You

Previous experience in accounts, finance or credit control

Strong numerical and analytical skills

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Confident using Excel and Microsoft Office

Strong communication and organisational skills

Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload

Proactive, reliable and a strong team player

Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Desirable
- Experience working with overseas clients or multiple currencies
