Assistant Engineer (Development Approvals) – Temporary
Location: Leicestershire
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Engineer to join a busy Development Approvals team. This temporary role focuses on the technical review of Section 38 and Section 278 highway submissions to ensure designs meet national and local standards.
You will:

Assess developer designs for adoption and compliance with DMRB, Manual for Streets, and other highway standards

Liaise with developers, consultants, and internal teams to resolve design issues

Support site inspections and monitor construction against approved plans

Work independently and manage multiple applications efficiently
The ideal candidate will have:

Hands-on experience with S38/S278 applications and development approvals

Strong knowledge of highway design, adoption processes, and construction standards

Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver practical technical advice
Qualifications such as HNC, HND, or a degree in Civil Engineering are desirable, but relevant experience in development approvals is key.
