About the School
A friendly and inclusive primary school in Streatham is looking to appoint a dedicated Psychology, Autism & Speech and Language Support Assistant to join their supportive team.
The school caters to pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 and has a strong focus on inclusive practice. You will be supporting a diverse range of pupils with Autism (ASC), Speech and Language needs, ADHD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Staff work collaboratively with Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists and other external professionals to provide a holistic approach to learning and development. The school places a strong emphasis on early intervention, communication development and nurturing each child’s independence and confidence.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates or aspiring practitioners looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in education and child development.
Role and Responsibilities
Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions focusing on speech, language and communication
Support pupils with autism and additional needs using structured, visual and routine-based strategies
Assist the class teacher in adapting lessons to meet EHCP and SEN support plans
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and external specialists to implement therapeutic approaches
Support pupils with emotional regulation, social skills and confidence building
Track and monitor pupil progress, engagement and outcomes
Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environmentCandidate Requirements
Degree in Psychology, Linguistics, Speech Sciences, Education, Child Development or a related field (or currently studying)
Genuine interest in supporting children with autism, speech and language needs and SEN
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patient, empathetic and resilient approach
Experience working with children or young people (school-based, tutoring, mentoring or care) is desirable but not essentialWhy This Role Is a Valuable Stepping Stone
