Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and committed Care Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in the Salisbury area. This full-time position offers a fulfilling opportunity to support children and young people with autism and Asperger’s, helping them to flourish within a structured, nurturing environment. The role is available ASAP through to July 2026, with the potential to become permanent.
About the School:
The school supports students aged 4 to 16 with autism and ADHD and has a small student population of approximately 100 pupils. It prides itself on delivering highly individualised care and education. A dedicated and collaborative staff team works closely together to promote students’ independence, wellbeing, and academic development. Free on-site parking is available.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide personal care and day-to-day support for students with autism and ADHD.
Assist with daily routines, including mobility, feeding, and personal hygiene.
Support students’ engagement in learning, play, and social activities.
Create and maintain a safe, calm, and sensory-aware environment.
Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and therapists to follow individual care and learning plans.
Keep accurate records and report any concerns in line with school procedures.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a Care Assistant or in a similar role, ideally within education or healthcare.
A good understanding of autism, ADHD, and associated sensory and behavioural needs.
A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with staff, students, and parents.
Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality.
An enhanced DBS check (assistance available if required).
