Accounts Assistant
Based in the Alton Office
Overall objective
Responsible for assisting the managers and partner of the business services and accounts department with the effective management of a portfolio of bookkeeping and accounting clients together with conducting ad hoc special assignments as requested.
Responsibilities
To provide bookkeeping services, pay all bills, complete tax computations and VAT returns, prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts.
Preparation of year-end financial accounts from both bookkeeping records prepared in house and from clients' records which may be incomplete.
To ensure that all statutory returns are completed and filed on time.
To organise the effective time management of own workload and that of the managersand partner.
To undertake any ad hoc projects as requested by the partners.
Experience preferred but training can be given. Part-time considered but ideally minimum of 20 hours per week.
The role holder must have strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to plan, anticipate bottlenecks in the workflow, cope with conflicting demands and priorities, and to know when to refer problems to the appropriate Manager or Partner. The role holder needs to have a very good eye for detail, be methodical and take pride in producing neat, clear, and accurate work.
The role holder should also have good interpersonal skills and a professional manner and be able to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues. They should be numerate and have a high standard of written English.
Must be IT literate with a good working knowledge word and excel. Experience in using major bookkeeping software packages such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Iris etc. would be preferable but not essential, but importantly, they must have a willingness and a desire to develop greater understanding of such packages.
