Job Title: Payroll Administrator

About the Role
In this role, you will support the end-to-end payroll process for a portfolio of clients, ensuring payrolls are processed correctly and on time while maintaining compliance with current legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of client payrolls in line with agreed deadlines.
Input payroll data where required and run audit and validation checks.
Interface payroll data with General Ledger and pension systems.
Monitor and calculate statutory payments, including SSP, SMP, and other statutory entitlements.
Support year-end payroll reporting where necessary.
Manage payroll-related changes within time and attendance systems (BMS).
Administer the end-to-end payroll process, including auto-enrolment compliance.
Respond to client payroll enquiries, acting as a trusted advisor.
Provide first-line support for pay queries.
Conduct peer checks of payrolls to maintain accuracy and compliance.
Undertake general administrative duties and collaborate with the wider payroll team.
Build strong relationships with clients, internal teams, HMRC, and third-party providers.
Stay up to date with payroll legislation and industry changes through independent research.
Skills & Experience
At least 1 year of payroll administration experience.
Experience with end-to-end payroll processing, including pensions, benefits, and statutory payments.
Strong accuracy and attention to detail, both in manual calculations and system-based work.
Ability to prioritise tasks, coordinate workloads, and multitask with minimal supervision.
Excellent customer service skills, with confidence handling queries via phone and email.
Ability to adapt and perform effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
Good understanding of payroll legislation, processing, and auto-enrolment regulations.
