1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEMH Secondary (WN5, Wigan)

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a nurturing and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEMH secondary provision in the WN5 area.
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, supporting students on a 1:1 basis. You will play a key role in helping pupils engage with their learning, supporting emotional regulation, and managing behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
The school is a supportive alternative provision that focuses on personalised learning and strong pastoral care for students with social, emotional and mental health needs. The environment is structured yet nurturing, with small groups that allow staff to build meaningful relationships and make a genuine impact on each young person’s development.
We are looking for someone who is naturally patient, empathetic, and nurturing, with the ability to build trust and positive relationships. Experience working with young people with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable, though candidates from backgrounds such as youth work, care, or support work are also encouraged to apply. A calm, resilient approach and confidence in setting boundaries are essential.
This role offers £100 per day, full-time hours (08:30–15:30), and the opportunity to move into a permanent position with the school for the right candidate. You will also receive ongoing support from your dedicated Teaching Personnel consultant.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
