Specialist PMLD Classroom Support Assistant
Location: Gateshead
Protocol Education is working with a highly respected specialist school in Gateshead that supports pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. The school has an incredibly supportive staffing structure, where staff work closely together to ensure every pupil receives the best possible care and learning experience.
A typical day may include:
Supporting pupils with complex learning needs and physical disabilities
Delivering sensory learning activities such as sensory rooms, music therapy and tactile exploration
Assisting with feeding, personal care, and mobility support
Encouraging communication through visual cues, Makaton or communication aids
Supporting pupils during therapy sessions and structured learning activities
Helping students develop independence and life skills
Essential experience:
Proven experience working in a PMLD or complex needs school setting
Knowledge of sensory learning approaches
Experience supporting wheelchair users or mobility needs
A strong understanding of safeguarding and SEND support

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
