Pay: £88.94 - £100 per dayThe school is a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Grays, rated "Good" by Ofsted, with a strong commitment to ensuring every child feels supported, safe and able to thrive. The school has a dedicated specialist provision supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder, where staff work collaboratively to create a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment.
You will be joining a highly supportive team consisting of a teacher, HLTA and several Learning Support Assistants working together to support a group of 20-30 pupils with additional needs. Many of the children are non-verbal, and the school uses communication strategies such as PECs and Makaton to help pupils express themselves and engage in learning.
This role requires someone who is proactive, patient and empathetic, with the confidence to use their initiative and common sense when supporting pupils throughout the school day. Some pupils may become frustrated at times, and behaviours such as throwing objects can occur, so resilience, calmness and understanding are key qualities for success in this role.
The role may also involve supporting pupils with personal care and assisting children who can sometimes run when dysregulated, so someone who is active and able to respond quickly will thrive in this environment.
The school is conveniently located in Grays, with good public transport links, including easy access to local bus routes and nearby rail connections. For those travelling by car, on-site parking and nearby street parking are available, making the school easily accessible for staff.
