Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing costs, contracts, and financial planning for structural alteration projects, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tenders for structural alteration projects.

Measure and quantify materials and labour requirements, ensuring compliance with technical specifications.

Manage contract administration, including preparing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, identifying and mitigating cost overruns.

Conduct value engineering exercises to optimise project expenditure without compromising quality or safety.

Prepare interim valuations, cost reports, and final accounts.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure financial and contractual compliance.

Provide advice on procurement strategies, risk management, and cost-saving opportunities.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and industry regulations throughout all projects.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally in structural alterations, building modifications, or civil engineering projects.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and structural systems.

Proficient in industry-standard software (e.g., CostX, AutoCAD, MS Project, Excel).

Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Professional membership (RICS or equivalent) preferred.
