Assistant Quantity Surveyor
A major UK highways maintenance contractor is building a new commercial team for a long-term Kent-based term maintenance contract commencing May 2026. This 14-year framework (extendable to 21 years) is valued at £50–55m per annum and covers routine, reactive and improvement works across the publicly maintained highway network.
Due to team mobilisation, an Assistant Quantity Surveyor is required to support the commercial function across multiple operational depots in Kent.
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor’s Role
You will support Senior QSs and Commercial Managers in managing a high-volume, low-value highways maintenance contract.
Responsibilities will include:
Assisting with cost capture and subcontractor management
Supporting procurement of supply chain packages
Managing variations and compensation events
Preparing and assisting with interim valuations
Supporting monthly CVR reporting
Assisting with final accounts
Working closely with operational delivery teams and depot managers
You will gain exposure across the full lifecycle of a term service contract in a live operational environment.
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Degree qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
1–3 years’ experience within a contractor environment
Exposure to NEC contracts desirable
Highways, civils or infrastructure background preferred
Strong numerical and commercial awareness
Proactive, organised and eager to develop
Full UK driving licence
