Health care Assistant
Role Purpose To provide calm, compassionate emotional respite to individuals experiencing anxiety. The role focuses on creating a safe, supportive environment where service users feel listened to, reassured, and empowered to manage daily life with greater confidence.
Key Responsibilities You will offer empathetic emotional support, using active listening and grounding approaches to help service users feel safe and understood. The role includes assisting with everyday tasks that may feel overwhelming due to anxiety, encouraging engagement in meaningful activities, and promoting independence at a comfortable pace. You will observe and record changes in wellbeing, report concerns in line with safeguarding procedures, and maintain accurate, confidential notes. Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and professionals is essential to ensure consistent, person‑centred care.
Professional Practice You are expected to uphold dignity, respect, and choice in all interactions, maintain professional boundaries, and follow organisational policies including safeguarding, confidentiality, and health and safety.
Person Requirements The ideal candidate brings genuine empathy, patience, and a calm presence. Strong communication skills and the ability to remain composed during periods of heightened anxiety are essential. Experience in mental health support or relevant training is beneficial but not required.
