About the Role
We are seeking an experienced DV Cleared Linux Systems Administrator to join our secure operations team. Working within a high‑security environment, you will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimising Linux‑based systems that underpin mission‑critical services for government and defence-sector customers.
This position is ideal for a highly skilled engineer who thrives in a secure, fast‑paced environment and takes pride in delivering reliable, stable, and secure infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar) in a secure, multi‑system environment.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
Perform patching, updates, and security hardening in accordance with strict governance and compliance requirements.
Support secure networks, storage solutions, and virtualised environments (VMware, KVM, or Hyper‑V).
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls following least‑privilege principles.
Produce and maintain system documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
Work closely with security teams to ensure systems remain compliant with internal and external standards.
Support incident response, root‑cause analysis, and service restoration activities.
Participate in on‑call or out‑of-hours support as required within the secure environment.
Skills & Experience
Active DV clearance (must be currently held and transferable).
Strong hands‑on experience with Linux administration across production or secure environments.
Knowledge of shell scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
Experience with secure configuration, system hardening, and compliance frameworks.
Familiarity with configuration management or automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls).
Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or equivalent).
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently in a restricted environment.
Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Desirable (Not Essential)
Exposure to defence, government, or high‑security environments.
Experience with DevOps tooling (Git, CI/CD, containers, Docker/Kubernetes).
Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN/NAS).
Certifications such as RHCSA/RHCE, Linux+, or security-related qualifications
