General Operator (2 Shift – Temp to Perm)

Pay Rate: £14.65 per hour (2 shift rate)
Contract: Temporary to Permanent

Jackson Hogg are hiring on behalf of our client in Ferryhill (Primary Ops) for a General Operator to join their sheet metal manufacturing team on a temp-to-perm basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term position within a well-established engineering environment.
Working Pattern
- Day 1 induction on dayshift
- Moving straight onto a 2-shift rotation
- Full-time hours
Pay
- £14.65 per hour (2 shift rate – advertised rate)
- Initial induction day paid at £12.21 per hour (dayshift rate)
The Role
You will be working within the Primary Operations department, supporting production activities in a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working with sheet metal components
- Using hand dressing tools and automated dressing machines
- Carrying out basic metal dressing (training provided where required)
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings (first and third angle projection essential)
- Setting machine tools where required
- Working independently within a team of approximately six operators
- Completing in-process inspections at the correct frequency and quality standard
Candidate Requirements
- Experience within a sheet metal or manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Experience using hand tools in a production setting
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage workload effectively
- Strong attention to detail and quality focus
- Reliable and able to work a 2-shift rotation
