Complex Needs Support Assistant – Swansea & Carmarthenshire
Location: Swansea & Carmarthenshire
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour
Age Range: 3 – 19 years
Role Overview:
We are seeking experienced and compassionate Complex Needs Support Assistants / SEN Support Assistants to join specialist provisions across Swansea and Carmarthenshire. This role involves supporting children and young people with ALN (Additional Learning Needs), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities), autism, and challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver 1:1 and small group SEN support tailored to individual learning and behaviour plans
Support pupils with ALN, SEMH, PMLD, ASD, and social communication needs
Assist with personal care, emotional regulation, social skills, and behaviour management
Support learning across lessons, sensory activities, practical tasks, and off-site visits
Implement positive behaviour strategies consistently to encourage engagement and independence
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Who We’re Looking For:
Experienced or aspiring SEN/ALN support staff, Behaviour Support Assistants, or Teaching Assistants
Patient, calm, resilient, and nurturing personality
Passionate about inclusion and supporting pupils with complex learning and behavioural needs
Confident in implementing behaviour strategies and managing challenging behaviours
Team player with flexibility, initiative, and a proactive approach
Requirements:
Enhanced DBS (Children only) – Update Service
EWC registration and safeguarding training
Two years of references
UK driving licence (desirable)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
