Assistant Principal - Teaching, Learning & Inclusion (SEMH School)
We are seeking an exceptional and experienced leader to join our SEMH school as Assistant Principal for Teaching, Learning and Inclusion. This is a key strategic role for a qualified SENCO who is passionate about improving outcomes for students with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will lead on high-quality teaching and learning, drive inclusive practice across the school, and ensure outstanding provision for pupils with additional needs.
Working closely with the Principal and Senior Leadership Team, you will shape whole-school strategy, champion trauma-informed and inclusive approaches, and ensure compliance with SEND legislation and safeguarding requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning across the school, ensuring consistently strong classroom practice.
Oversee SEND and inclusion strategy, maintaining compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
Drive the school's inclusion agenda, embedding effective interventions and personalised provision for SEMH learners.
Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring targeted support leads to improved outcomes.
Line manage key staff and contribute to whole-school improvement planning.
Work closely with parents, external agencies, and multi-disciplinary professionals.
Promote a culture of high expectations, safeguarding, and positive behaviour support. The Successful Candidate Will:
Hold QTS and be a qualified SENCO (National Award for SEN Coordination essential).
Have significant experience working within an SEMH or specialist setting.
Demonstrate strong leadership experience, ideally at middle or senior leadership level.
Have a proven track record of improving teaching standards and student outcomes.
Possess excellent knowledge of SEND legislation and inclusive practice.
