APPRENTICE ACADEMY TRAINER (ENGINEERING)
Location: Blackburn (with occasional travel to other UK sites)
Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 (depending on experience)
Start Date: February 2026
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Engineering Trainer to support the development of the next generation of engineering and process technicians. This role will be based at a newly established training academy in Blackburn, created to deliver high-quality apprenticeship training programmes at Levels 2 and 3.
You will play a key role in delivering technical knowledge, supporting learner progression, and ensuring a positive, inclusive, and engaging training environment. Working alongside a supportive team of trainers and assessors, you will help shape future talent by mentoring apprentices and ensuring training meets national standards and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver engineering training aligned to Level 2 and 3 apprenticeship standards.

Design and develop lesson plans, schemes of work and learning resources.

Coach and mentor apprentices to support engagement, motivation and successful completion.

Carry out initial assessments, including recognition of prior learning.

Monitor learner progress through reviews, assessments and feedback.

Support functional skills development where required.

Create an inclusive learning environment that supports equality, diversity and individual needs.

Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and a positive learning culture.

Maintain safe working practices in line with Health & Safety legislation.

Participate in internal quality assurance and compliance processes.

Engage in continuous professional development and keep training knowledge up to date.

Represent the academy at events such as school engagement activities, careers fairs and STEM initiatives.

Travel occasionally to support delivery at other academy locations.

Undertake other duties appropriate to the role.
Person Specification
-
Relevant engineering qualification (or willingness to work towards Level 2 and 3).

Training, teaching or coaching experience desirable but not essential.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Enthusiastic about developing apprentices and acting as a positive role model.

Good IT skills.

Flexible approach to work, with willingness to travel and a full UK driving licence.

Commitment to CPD, including teaching/assessor qualifications, safeguarding and first aid.

Willingness to undergo a DBS check and provide two work-related references.
