We're recruiting an Assistant Chef to join the catering team at a residential activity centre near Guildford, set in a scenic countryside location close to Hindhead in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The centre welcomes children and young people year-round for multi-day residential stays focused on outdoor adventures and activity-based learning.
In this role, you'll support the kitchen team in preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals to fuel busy, active days - from early breakfasts to evening meals following full days of activities. This is a full-time, permanent position offering structured split shifts, no late evenings, and the option of live-in accommodation.

Support the preparation and service of nutritious, well-balanced meals for children, staff and visitors
- Assist with catering for medical, dietary and allergen requirements
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, HACCP and health & safety
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Work collaboratively with the wider catering team
- Assist with wider centre duties within a busy residential activity environmentWhat we're looking for:
Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and allergen control
- Ability to stay organised and work calmly under pressure
- A flexible, team-focused approach to working split shifts
