Assistant Design Coordinator - Oxfordshire - Up to £35K
We are recruiting an Assistant Design Coordinator to join a thriving Main Contractor working across a variety of schemes, with an excellent career path on offer.
The Assistant Design Coordinator will play an active part in supporting their colleagues within the Design Team, helping to coordinate and manage the design process across all stages of the construction project. The role focuses on assisting with consultant coordination, design information flow, compliance, and ensuring that design deliverables align with programme, budget, and statutory requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their design or construction management career or wanting to move across from an Architecture role, who is looking to develop their career.
Key Responsibilities
Design Coordination & Support

Assist in coordinating design information between consultants, subcontractors, and the construction team

Support the management of design deliverables in line with the project programme

Help track and manage design queries, RFIs, and design changes
-
Assist in reviewing drawings and specifications for coordination and buildability
Documentation & Information Management

Maintain design registers, drawing issue logs, and document control systems

Support the preparation and issue of design packages to site teams
-
Ensure drawings and documents are up to date and correctly issued
Meetings & Communication

Attend design team meetings, workshops, and coordination reviews
-
Take minutes and track actions from design meetings
-
Liaise with internal teams and external consultants to support timely design responses
Compliance & Quality

Assist in ensuring designs comply with Building Regulations, planning conditions, and employer’s requirements

Support the Design Manager in managing technical approvals and statutory submissions
-
Help monitor design risk and assist with value engineering exercises
Skills & Experience
Essential
-
Degree or HNC/HND in Architecture, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
-
Strong organisational and communication skills
-
Basic understanding of the UK construction process and design stages

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Desirable
-
Previous experience in a construction, contractor, architecture or consultancy environment

Familiarity with BIM processes and common design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit)

Understanding of Building Regulations and CDM Regulations 2015
