Location: Near Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Working pattern: Hybrid – 3 days office based, 2 days working from home

About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of our fit-out projects. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants broad experience, responsibility, and the opportunity to learn directly from senior team members in a small contractor setting.
You will work closely with the Managing Director and Senior Quantity Surveyor, assisting with cost control, procurement, and commercial reporting from project start through to completion.
Key Responsibilities

Assisting with cost planning and budget control for fit-out projects

Supporting the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers

Preparing and issuing subcontract enquiries and comparisons

Assisting with valuations, applications for payment, and cost reports

Monitoring project costs and cash flow

Assisting with the assessment of variations and change control

Supporting the agreement of final accounts

Maintaining accurate commercial records

Liaising with site teams, suppliers, and clients as required
Requirements

Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline

Previous experience within construction or fit-out (preferred but not essential)

Strong numerical and organisational skills

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Willingness to learn and take on responsibility
