SEN, SEMH & PMLD Support Staff – Primary & Secondary Schools
Salary: £90 - £100 per day (Based on experience)
Teaching Personnel are currently seeking experienced SEN, SEMH and PMLD support staff to work within our partner primary and secondary special educational needs (SEN) schools.
This role involves providing both 1:1 support and general classroom support, working closely with teaching staff and SEN teams to ensure pupils receive high-quality, consistent support tailored to their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
SEN (Special Educational Needs):
Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of learning difficulties and additional needs
Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum through adapted learning strategies and resources
Support the development of communication, social and independence skills
Monitor pupil progress and feedback observations to teachers and SENCOs
SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health):
Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement in learning
Implement positive behaviour support strategies in line with individual support plans
Build positive, trusting relationships to promote confidence and self-esteem
Support pupils during times of dysregulation and help maintain a safe and structured learning environment
PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties):
Provide highly personalised 1:1 support for pupils with complex learning and physical needs
Support pupils with personal care, mobility and medical needs, where required
Use sensory-based learning approaches to encourage engagement and development
Work closely with therapists and specialist staff to support individual care and education plans
General Responsibilities (All Roles):
Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management
Promote an inclusive, safe and supportive learning environment
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents and external professionals
Follow safeguarding policies and maintain professional standards at all times

Requirements
Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH and/or PMLD
A patient, professional and compassionate approach
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
