Jackson Hogg Procurement division are pleased to be working with a growing manufacturing organisation in Stockton-on-Tees, on the appointment of a Purchasing Assistant to join their established Purchasing function.
This is a full-time and permanent role offering £28-30k depending on experience. This is an on-site role working a 37.5 hour week offering flexibility to start times.
Supporting the business on a growth trajectory, the Purchasing Assistant will play a key part in ensuring the timely and compliant procurement of materials and services required to support operations across the UK sites.
You will be responsible for supporting day-to-day purchasing activities, supplier administration and order management, while working closely with Operations, Engineering, Projects and Finance to ensure business requirements are met efficiently and accurately.

The Role:

Issue RFQs and obtain quotations from approved suppliers in line with business requirements

Convert approved purchase requisitions into purchase orders in accordance with company procedures and approval limits

Support the submission and tracking of advance payment requests

Track and expedite purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery, escalating and communicating any significant changes to relevant stakeholders

Support the onboarding of new suppliers in line with company processes

Maintain accurate purchasing data and records, including supplier lead times and pricing information

Provide operational administrative support for assigned locations, including monitoring and replenishment of consumables across Operations and Engineering

Provide ad-hoc support with goods receipt and shipping activities via the company MRP system

Support Finance in resolving supplier invoice queries and discrepancies

Assist with budget tracking and cost-saving initiatives

Act as a point of contact for Operations, Projects and Engineering regarding the status of goods and services, advising on pricing, lead times and changes as required

Prepare purchasing reports and data for the management team
The Person/Requirements:

Ideally a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a purchasing, procurement or supply chain role

Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment is desirable

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
-
Confident communicator, able to work effectively with internal stakeholders and suppliers

Good negotiation skills and commercial awareness
-
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
