The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Buyer to join the procurement team based in Oswestry. Working closely with the Buying, Commercial, and Site teams, you will support the efficient procurement of materials and services across multiple residential developments, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
As Assistant Buyer, you will be responsible for:
Supporting the procurement of materials and subcontract packages for residential new build projects
Raising and managing purchase orders in line with budgets and build programmes
Liaising with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any supply or quality issues
Assisting with price negotiations and maintaining strong supplier relationships
Monitoring material costs and supporting cost control and reporting
Ensuring procurement activities comply with company procedures and policies
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be organised, commercially aware, and keen to develop a long-term career in buying and procurement within the residential construction sector. You will be proactive, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
The successful Assistant Buyer will have:
Previous experience in an Assistant Buyer or procurement role within construction or housebuilding
Strong organisational and administrative skills
Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Excellent communication skills and a proactive, team-focused approach
